    Fourth of July approaching

Well I leave Salzburg, Austria at 5AM (11PM Monday Night eastern) Tuesday July 1 to make my way back to the states from the Munich, Germany airport. So I don't lose a day. I gain six hours. My point is, I get home at just the right time to be preparing for the Fourth of July.

Does anyone have a schedule of the festivities occurring at home for the next week? Who is performing the main concert at the celebration in Big Stone Gap? I have enjoyed the last couple of years with that Tim guy performing.

I look forward to seeing some of you there.

    This is according to coalfield.com...

    Mabe in concert July 4
Rising singer/songwriter Cody Mabe and his band, Route 23, present the main concert at this year’s July 4 celebration at Bullitt Park in Big Stone Gap. Mabe, who calls Back Valley home, has written several songs including his most recently recorded, ‘Anything Once, Twice If I Like it.’ His concert begins at 8 p.m.

    Re: Fourth of July approaching

I think it is great that BSG is giving local talent such a good start, but I fear that in their "haste" to save a penny here and there, they have just shot themselves in the "foot" and have marked the beginning of the end for BSG's Independence Day festivities. Don't get me wrong, I think Mabe is an excellent musician/performer, but I feel that the town could have done a better job. Not a lot of the older generation has heard anything about him.
